This painting aims to reflect the contrast of experiences that I, the artist was exposed to from a period in my life when I moved from a busy city scene (London) to a rural setting on the west coast of Ireland (Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo). Having used hitch-hiking as a mode of transport for many years, I am aiming to reflect the experience and mood of trying to reach a destination by hitching, my 'minds eye' focusing on the destination with an abstract representation of things I associate with that location.
The vast difference between my '04 work to the previous manic style of '03 reflects the period of change I went through after being diagnosed as Bi-polar and being medicated.
