‘Seventh Gate’ by Eddy Crowley. In my version of Christianity my body is my chalice for my Johnny Cash cross Mel Gibson style mentality of occupation, with the father, the son and the holy spirit occasionally watching over me and a wee devil and angel on my shoulders. My belief strengthens me and enables me to fight my fears. It is from this standpoint that I try to live my religion and reflect it in the imagery I create out of colours on canvas, almost chef like. I love the number 7 and associate it with the scythe.
I see the context of this piece to be a procession from gate 6 into gate 7 with a gate keeper holding his scythe.
Acrylic on canvas. Size: W=50cm H=60cm
